Since 1998, Mountain States Health Alliance has been bringing the nation’s best health care close to home to serve the residents of Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, Southeastern Kentucky and Western North Carolina. The not-for-profit organization based in Johnson City operates a family of 13 hospitals serving a 29-county region.
Its flagship facility, Johnson City Medical Center, is one of only six Level 1 trauma centers in the state and was ranked among the top eight hospitals in Tennessee by U.S. News & World Report and among the top 100 hospitals in the country for medical excellence in cardiac care, heart attack treatment and vascular surgery by CareChex.
Franklin Woods Community Hospital in Johnson City was one of the first green hospitals in Tennessee certified by the U.S. Green Building Council and was listed among Truven Health Analytics’ 100 Top Hospitals in the nation for small community hospitals for two years in a row.
Niswonger Children’s Hospital, the region’s only pediatric hospital, houses one of only eight St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Affiliate Clinics for the treatment of pediatric cancer and is also home to the country’s first and only Shriners Hospitals for Children® Orthopaedics Clinic.
